Susan Lee Solar
Susan was an ardent promoter of sustainability and she practiced what she preached. Her plans for her land included a straw bale house with many green features. When the city turned off the power for withholding the portion of her bill that went to pay for a nuclear plant, she went off the grid and installed photovoltaic cells on the roof of the trailer she was living in. She took every opportunity to help people with their cob, straw bale, constructed wetlands and other building projects. We are forever indebted to Susan for all the days she spent helping us raise and plaster the walls of our straw bale home here on the Pedernales, from which this site is being developed. Thanks Susan!

Susan went solar with photovoltaic panels on the roof of her trailer when the city turned off her power for withholding the portion of her bill that paid for a nuke plant. Here's a nice offer for a truly Solar altar.

Sorry to hear about Susan and to not have been able to gather with you all this Sunday. She went to school with my mom years ago and actually took the first workshop I hosted here in Austin 5 years ago.

I would like to donate a small panel (1 Watt) to the altar if it is going to be a permanent installation, or should I just go by and say my peace?

Susan was a strong advocate for herbal and natural healing. Here are Lilia Cajilog and Sizani Ngubane's correspondence about how Sizani's daughter was cured by bittermelon.

Warmest Greetings to All:

Tawo po!

I am forwarding this letter from South African grandmother Sizani Ngubane to honor the memory of my dearest friend Susan Lee Campbell Solar and to spread among good people lifesaving news about the healing energy of the bittermelon. Since 1992, I have been a seed carrier of this sacred plant which is traditional tawo folk medicine. It was Susan who introduced me toSizani in spring 1998. That time I planted the momordica charantia in the following Texas locations: Susan's front yard (Monroe St); at San Marcos home of Genevieve Vaughn, at American Botanical Council headquarters in Austin as housepresent to Mark Blumenthal, publisher of Herbalgram.

Countless people worldwide have been helped by the momordica. Would that this unsolicited letter can help save more. Ironically, Susan's pneumonia could have been controlled by drinking the juiced leaves of a vine growing in her own yard...I miss her so much... .The Sunday before her death we had this wonderful conversation.... The proteins of the momordica strengthens the immune system to fight off viruses such as ebola so why not the staphyloccocus?

Life is so full of ironies. Still, I am so very blessed by knowing Susan Lee. May her tribe increase.

Salamat jamu. Mitakuye oyasin.

Dear Lilia

I am not sure if you received my message of the 27th May. I have just sent it again this morning hoping that you are going to get it. It would be very useful for you to send me the bittermelon seeds from Phillipine - if you can ask your nurse to sent it to me. I am now using a Swaziland postal address and when the package arrives my friend Audrey tells me and I drive 1000 kilimetres to go and collect it.

Susan's daughter Camille went through her mummy's messages and read that I was sending Susan messages telling her how concerned I was about you. When Susan died she had just tried to get you on the phone and was not successful. She also realized that you had sent me a bittermelon and had not arrived. She sent me a message asking me if she can send it to my address in SA - I told her not to send it because Gena Fleming and Susan sent me stacks and stacks of prickly pear and was sent back to them by the South African Medicine Control Committee - claiming that it is not registered with the Committee.

She just sent the bittermelon anyway and we crossed our fingers and with the love of the Creator the package of the bittermelon arrived in SA without any hasles. I took the ready made tea to hospital and Sandile was discharged in hospital within 4 days of taking like 3 cups of bittermelon a day - it did wonders. The hospital was not giving her any medicine because they believed that she was going to die - I fought with the help of all my friends and we won the fight.

I am short of words to say thank you Lilia - you saved the life of my daughter.

I hope you get better soon - take the bittermelon it is great. If you have any documents on it please forward them to me I would like to learn more about it.

Love

Sizani

More to come.
