Susan's guitar in a tree

I am

a green-eyed woman
a clear-thinking woman
a jazz singing woman
a woman who loves to dance
woman who dreams
dreams that amaze
dreams that amuse
dreams that cleanse my soul.

I am the woman with the Datson truck
the woman who's had bad luck with cars
the woman with two daughters
the woman with two animals
the woman with two houses
and two minds
the double Gemini with a Capricorn Sun.

I am the woman with visions
the woman with projects
the woman with clear goals
goals that emerge
goals that evolve
goals that change as I grow.

I am the the woman from Texas.
I am woman from Houston,
Texas City, Brownsville and Austin,
Philly, Nashville, Brussels and D.C.
I am the woman who loves Paris
the woman who has sweltered in Athens
and jumped into the Aegean Sea in April.
I am a well-traveled woman.
I passed out in a museum in India
and woke up in a past life in Babylonia.

Toth told me to prepare to write.
Psychics say I'll find happiness near the water.
Now I live in the mountains.

I am the clear-eyed woman
the greying-haired woman
the sun-loving woman

dreaming dreams that delight
dreams that dismay
dreams that point the way.

A band, Boxcar Preachers, dedicate a CD to Susan

It's been almost a year since she passed, and I often think about her and her positive energy. My name is Bruce Gardner and I used to frequent her house for Boxcar Preachers' rehearsals. Her roommate at the time, Shand, was in the band and Susan would insist that we rehearse there (even though she was usually busy sitting in front of her computer on that big bouncy ball she'd use as a chair). Well, we just finished a CD and have dedicated it to her. Having her place and her energy to be around during the band's formative stages was a real good thing.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Regards,

Bruce
